A Delicious as well as healthy snack!
Dry Chana or chickpeas is one of the most vital and nutritious diets out there and is a far better snack than a burger or fried chips. It is imperative to understand that we are living in a pretty unhealthy generation and obesity is taking a toll on mankind. Countries such as the US and England are facing the problems of obesity and diabetes on a very large scale because of turning to unhealthy junk food as snacks.
India has always been different from the world in most aspects and especially in food. The traditional diet of India fulfilled the requirements of what a ‘balanced diet’ is and we did not need to count calories or carbs in our food before eating, a practise which is becoming common in the west and unfortunately also in India.
India is facing an alarming intervention in culture from the west and Indians are, for some reason inclined towards western thought process and western culture to be specific. India’s culture is very rich and we had a modern society before the west existed and the shift we are seeing today is very unfortunate. This shift has included for its most part the eating culture. Kids don’t even know what dry chana is and are attracted to burgers and pizzas. And this is only about the snack part, the main course part is even worse.
Dry Chana is underrated!
It is not a very amusing fact to state that dry chana for the healthy properties it holds is highly underrated. Snack is an essential part of the meal and the traditional three-times-a-day meal has gone out of the window. Research suggests that eating 5-6 times a day in a minimal manner is healthier than stuffing yourself with food thrice. In this context dry chana is the best alternative for a healthy snack and mind you, IT IS DELICIOUS! Dry chana can be dubbed into many delicious recipes such masala chole, roasted dry chana, masala dry chana etc and all of these have numerous health benefits.
Dr chana is one of the few elements of food which are both delicious and at the same time healthy and what remains in India is to get rid of the toxic western culture.
In conclusion, dry chana, or chickpeas, emerges as a beacon of hope in our ever-evolving eating habits. As the world grapples with a growing epidemic of obesity and diabetes, it's essential to recognize the importance of traditional, nutritious snacks like dry chana. Unlike the West, where unhealthy junk food often takes center stage, India has a rich culinary heritage that once epitomized a balanced diet.
The shift towards Western culture and dietary choices is concerning. It's disheartening to see that many children are more familiar with burgers and pizzas than the wholesome goodness of dry chana. In a world where the traditional three-meal structure is fading, incorporating healthy snacks is crucial. Dry chana, often underrated, is a versatile ingredient that can be transformed into delicious recipes like masala chole and roasted dry chana, all while offering numerous health benefits.
The key lies in striking a balance between the old and the new, preserving the richness of Indian culture and its dietary wisdom. Dry chana represents a fusion of deliciousness and healthiness that we should embrace wholeheartedly. By rekindling our appreciation for nutritious snacks like dry chana, we can steer our society back towards a path of wellness, transcending the allure of unhealthy Western influences. It's time to celebrate the humble dry chana for the delicious and healthy snack that it is, and to bid adieu to toxic dietary trends.
